The ODPP is launching a competition for Principal Prosecutor in our new Regional Office in Cork. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior lawyer to take on a key leadership role within a dynamic prosecutorial environment.

The successful candidate will manage complex criminal cases in the Circuit and District Courts, provide expert legal advice, and ensure high standards of practice across the Regional Office. They will lead a team of junior prosecutors, work closely with law enforcement partners, and support the establishment and smooth operation of the new Cork office.

Reporting to the Senior Principal Prosecutor, the post requires strong advocacy skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to excellence in public service and ethical practice.

A panel will be formed from this competition and will remain active for 18 months.

Although the role is based in our new Cork Office, the successful candidate will be required to attend Dublin for onboarding, induction, and any necessary training. They may also be required to attend the Office in Dublin for meetings from time to time during their employment.
